Lawrence Egan, a resident of Yonkers, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18th, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Guiliana Egan, his seven children, Naomi, Chris, Rhianna, Vanessa, Jerael, Nicole, and Laura, many grandchildren, his brother, Freddy, and sisters, Virginia, Ursula, Celeste, and Christine.
Lawrence “Larry” Egan passed away after fighting and defying odds through a long battle with cancer. In his passing, just as in his life, he was surrounded by his many loved ones. Larry maintained the charming and comical attitude he was always known for, joking and laughing up until his very last day.
Larry was born in the Bronx, New York to James Egan and Charlotte Honett. He was part of a large family, as the youngest of ten children. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army at a young age and moved to California for a period with his former wife and mother to his children, Julia Egan. While residing in California he was a brave firefighter, and eventually moved back to the Bronx, and then settled into Yonkers. In his later years, he worked as a teacher and maintenance worker for the city of New York. He later remarried his devoted wife of ten years, Guiliana Egan and became the step-father of Guiliana & Victor. He was a man of many trades and well known as a “Mr. Fix-it.” He was continuously learning and growing. Larry believed in working hard, providing for and leading his family, and using his humor to bring happiness to all of those around.
Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Larry would agree that he was a man like no other, constantly putting the needs of his family above his own. True to his stubborn nature, he fought every step of the way, without complaint or loss of hope. His spirit could not be broken and his strength was greater than anyone could imagine. He holds an irreplaceable spot in the hearts of those who love him, and will forever be missed and cherished.
