Obituary of Orlando A. Papaleo
Orlando A. Papaleo, (Lanny) a resident of Montebello, NY, formerly of White Plains, Scarsdale and Yonkers, entered into eternal rest on May 1, 2017, with all of his loved ones by his side. Lanny was born in the Bronx, to the late Orlando and Eleanor Papaleo, on February 7, 1946. He was 71 years old.
Lanny was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, companion and loyal friend, loved by all. Lanny was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Yonkers. At the young age of 15, he met the love of his life, Elaine Muscatella, while attending Mark Twain in Yonkers. They were married on September 17, 1966. Elaine pre-deceased her beloved husband on May 19, 2010. Lanny attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. He had an interesting and varied career. He was an independent fashion designer and pattern maker, providing designs for Ralph Lauren, among others. He was a prosperous business man and real estate developer. He served his country in the Army Reserve in the early 1960's. He was a Past President and tenured Board member at the Davenport Club in New Rochelle. He enjoyed his hobby of unique car collections and frequented car shows. Lanny suffered greatly from a variety of illnesses over the years. His will to survive, right up until his last breath, will remain a testimony to all.
Lanny is survived by his loving children: Gina Kosakowski and her husband, Bill; son, Orlando J. Papaleo and his wife, Megan. He has five grandchildren: Carly, Christopher and Kyle Kosakowski; and Amanda and Nicholas Papaleo. He is also survived by his two sisters: Jo-Ann Mele and husband Robert; and Lenore Wilson and her husband John; also brother-in-law John Muscatella and his wife Lillian, as well as many nieces and nephews. A sister-in-law, Carol Mazzella also pre-deceased him. He is also survived by beloved companion and his special nurse, Pamela Gorman. Funeral Mass Friday, 9:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Church – 670 Yonkers Avenue. Entombment to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale.
