Hinrich (Henry) Roerden, of Yonkers, passed away on January 24, 2018 at the age of 81 after a brief illness.
He is survived by his siblings Inge Knudsen, of Yonkers, Johanna (Heinz) Helmcke & Jann (Erna) Roerden, of Germany, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Henry was born and raised on Föhr, a north Frisian island in Germany. He immigrated to the United States as a young man and became a naturalized citizen. He co-owned a delicatessen in the Parkchester section of the Bronx for many years. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons; and was a member of the Frisian Verein. Henry also was a longtime member of St. Paul's German Evangelical Lutheran in New York, New York.
