Obituary of Rev. Fr. Kenneth D. Ross, Sr.

Reverend Father Kenneth D. Ross, Sr., passed away on November 10, 2018, at the age of 93.

Fr. Ross was born in White Plains, NY to the late Rocco & Emma Ross. He proudly served our country in the 8th Air Force as a Ball Turret Gunner, before he was shot down on his 9th mission and was held as a POW. He later received a purple heart. He also served during the Korean Conflict.

Upon his return, he worked & retired from the Port Authority of NY & NJ. Fr. Kenneth was predeceased by his loving wife Marion on December 26, 1978 and found his second calling. He attended the Holy Apostle Seminary in Cromwell, CT and was ordained a priest in the Diocese of Orlando, FL. Most recently, he served at St. John the Baptist Church in Yonkers.

Fr. Ross is survived by his children Kenneth Ross, Jr., Susan Ross Astarita, & James Ross as well as his grandchildren Kenneth III, Simon & Kyle Ross and Salvatore Astarita.

A Funeral mass will be held 10 AM on Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Church, 670 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, New York 10704 with interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 50 Jackson Avenue, Hastings-on-Hudson, New York 10708. The family will be present on Tuesday from 3-7 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Services - 732 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704. (914) 375-1400.
