Obituary of Gregory Thanasoulis

Remembrances of Gregory Thanasoulis September 27, 1933- October 21, 2020 One of six children, Gregory was born in 1933 in the village of Perista, Nafpactias, Greece to Panayioti and Georgia Thanasoulis. He came to the US in 1951 on a boat named Nea Ellas when he was only 18 years old. He married Cleo Raptis on August 23, 1959 in Greece and he has two daughters, Georgia and Catherine, and a granddaughter, Athena. Not knowing a word of English and separated from his parents, siblings and relatives in Greece, Gregory settled in NYC and later opened several businesses in the Bronx over a span of Thirty years- one on University Avenue and two on Kingsbridge Road under the name of his beloved village, Perista. Gregory loved his faith, his family and both his native Greece and the U.S. He was a very gentle, loving and kind man of a few words. A resilient and noble spirit, Gregory overcame several challenging medical battles during his life and was a wonderful role model to all who loved him. We will deeply miss his warm and caring heart. The family will be present on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 2-5 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Services- 732 Yonkers Avenue- Yonkers, New York 10704 (914) 375-1400 www.frswfh.com.
