Obituary of Joan Glas

Joan Glas, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2020, at the age of 91. Like many of her generation, The Greatest Generation, Joan survived the era of the Great Depression and the horrors and uncertainties of loved ones returning from World War II. Her husband of 55 years, Arthur B. Glas, served Honorably in General George S. Patton's Third Army in the 87th Infantry Division, The Golden Acorns. In 1952, Joan and Artie married and then raised five children, Artie, Bobby, Donald, Janet and Ellen. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Arthur in 2007 and her son, Arthur in 2010. She is survived by her devoted children, Robert (Laura), Donald, Janet (Gregory) Yovane & Ellen (Brian) Drake, her beloved grandchildren, Ryan (Lara), Jennifer (Joel) Vyduna, Kristen, Robert (Jamie), Katrina, Elizabeth, Gabrielle & Gregory, as well as her adoring great grandchildren, Julia, Robert, Ian, Brenna, Calvin, and Cameron. She was affectionately known as "Nannie" to everyone. The family will be present on Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 3-7 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Services- 732 Yonkers Avenue- Yonkers, New York 10704. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 4, 2021-10 AM at Saint John the Baptist Church, 670 Yonkers Avenue- Yonkers, New York 10704. Joan will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Arthur at Rose Hills Memorial Park- 101 Mill Street- Putnam Valley, New York. Please Note: Due to CDC guidelines, we are required (by law) to limit the visitation to a maximum of 50 guests at a time. If you are not immediate family, please consider making your visit a brief one. Please wear a mask upon entry into the funeral home. If you are not feeling well or do not feel comfortable, please DO NOT enter the funeral home.
